XL100S
1979-82

99cc, OHC, air-cooled, single-cylinder, 5-speed

A first-step introduction to on/off road 4-stroke trail riding with a lightweight easy to ride XL.

An XL80S model was also available in some countries.

XL125S
1978-82

124cc, OHC, air-cooled, single-cylinder, 6-speed

Most popular in the UK as a learner model. The XL125S succeeded the heavier XL125-K3 model that was introduced in 1976.

XL185S

180cc, OHC, air-cooled, single-cylinder, 5-speed

Maintaining lightweight, the XL185S provided extra power to the 125S before progressing to the larger and heavier XL250S model.

XL250S
1978-83

249cc, OHC, 4-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder, 5-speed

Probably the most popular of all the XL models, the XL250S featured a SOHC 4-valve cylinder head and 23-inch front wheel.  

The XL250S replaced the earlier XL250 Motosport introduced in 1972 and the XL250-K series models introduced in 1974.

XL500S
1979-81

498cc, OHC, 4-valve, air-cooled, single-cylinder, 5-speed

The top of the range XL of the time was this 498cc version. A heavyweight contender but producing 26hp @ 5,500rpm pushing the trail rider to over 80mph.

From 1982 the 'S' model was replaced by the pro-link rear suspension 'R' model.
