From 1982 Honda launched a new range of DOHC 4-cylinder models starting with the CBX400F primarily for the Japan home market followed by the CBX550F/F2 for Europe and other markets and later in 1984, the CBX750F.

These 4-cylinder CBX models featured an all-new engine design with new valve adjustment system and other hi-tech features. In addition, all three versions featured the then new Pro-Link mono-shock rear suspension arrangement.

The CBX400F and CBX550F both came in 'F' without fairing and 'F2' with fairing variations. These models also featured Honda's new ventilated inboard disc-brake system. The later CBX750F however reverted to the more traditional open disc-brake arrangement.    

For selected markets there was also a 650cc version of these 4-cylinder CBX models plus various Custom design variations.
 

1982 CBX400F
- First model.
- All-new DOHC 16-valve engine

- Unusual cross-over design exhaust pipe arrangement.

1982 CBX550F/F2
- A 572cc version of the above CBX400F
- Developed mainly for the European markets.
- Available in two versions without fairing 'F' & with fairing 'F2'.
- The F2 model was also known as the 'Integra' in some markets.
- New ventilated inboard disc brakes, front & rear.
- New Pro-Link rear suspension system.

1984 CBX750F
- All new 750 for Europe and other markets.
- New engine design.
- Triple twin-pot disc-brakes.
- Pro-Link rear suspension.
- 16-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels.
